Summer Fruit Tree Pruning & Care


ooo!  the ever engaging Monica Maggio is teaching about The Basics of Summer Fruit Tree Pruning and care on Sunday, May 20th. 

She is full of fruity knowledge and also runs the Home Orchard Society's delicious Arboretum, a 1.6 acre demonstration orchard you can visit year round - filled with apples, figs, pears, plums, pineapple guava, cherries, pluots, grapes, Asian pears, blueberries, Quince, persimmons, apricots, peaches, medlar, olives, elderberry, pawpaws, currants, loquats, kiwis, and cane berries... yes, awesome!!!

*CHICKEN FEED UPDATE*



Sad News = Q-Bar Farm is having some sudden family difficulties and will not be able to produce more feed in the near future.  Thankfully we do have nearly one ton of Q-Bar Layer in stock, so that you can transition your ladies over to a new feed, which leads to...

Good News! = We are bringing in 'Scratch and Peck... An EGGsellent Feed Company!' with the fish, non-gmo camelina meal and pro-biotics our hens all love and delicious organic grains grown in Washington.  We've talked with Linnton Feed in NW Portland and their customers' chickens love it.  Scratch and Peck is family-owned and operated by Diana, Dennis, Bryon and their team (check out their About Us page) and we're really happy to be working with them.  Our first order will land by Friday, May 25th.  (photos of their feed, bags and mill + more photos on their website and facebook page, too)

And our other great feed options continue, including: Payback Organic, Cascade Organic, Nutrena Organic and Beaver Brand Layer, bawc bawc!!

And plant related.... many gorgeous heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, basil, cucumbers, squash, greens and other veggies, herbs, flowers and other goodies await you.  And the Seed Wall is stocked with direct sowing treats.  Ahh this weather.... dreamy, soaking it in with you  ; )

Toussaint + Open on Mother's Day

our little shop friend, Toussaint, enjoys the view from the esteemed co-president of Hatcher's Hatches head and also likes to ride around on shoulders and nestle in the back of the necks of those with longer hair...


and we will be OPEN 11 - 5pm this Sunday on Mother's Day.  Come on by after brunch and plan your garden together  : )
