le peepers!

♥ le peepers... have landed. Neil just picked them up in Aurora this morning and their song fills the air, guard your heartstrings... they're tuggers ♥

From  March 14th into May - We will have organic baby chicks and ducklings primarily hatched in Oregon 25 miles from our shop, which we pick up in our truck the day after hatch We feed organic chick starter, provide lots of fresh water, bits of greens and love.  They like jazz and being cooed about by you...  They are sexed to ~90% accuracy female (roos by request, too) and vaccinated against Marek's.  We will also have chicks from Oregon & Washington breeders when available, as noted (which may not be sexed or vaccinated, per breeder), and bantams, local or occasionally by mail, as noted (too tiny to sex/gender, always 'straight-run') - Email or call if you'd like to pre-order breeds you see on our Online Chick List: order@naomisorganic.com

+ big thanks to Stella and Beka of Blue Moon Farm for helping design and paint the ladies' brooder boxes and... their treasured cartons hen and duck eggs are back in our shop, more this weekend. ladies are laying strong and there are turkey,duck and/or goose eggs available by special order, too for culinary adventures.....

Chicks, Spring for Zenger Farm + Hours

Wednesday, March 14th, is Spring for Zenger at Naomi's.  We are donating 10% of our gross proceeds from anything you purchase to support the amazing array of neat educational and community programs on this non-profit farm.  Just come on in from 11 - 5pm. (photo of my mom, Mary, aka Mamo, on our opening day, sunshine!!)

Picking up our first batch of organic, locally hatched baby chicks tomorrow morning from Aurora and were just able to add some Rhode Island Reds to this herd of peepers.  See our chick breed list here.

Starting this week, after Wednesday's fundraiser, we'll be open regularly from
11 - 5pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.


Tonight, Tuesday, March 13th is InFARMation at Holocene 6:30 - 8:30pm on Pastured Poultry, free as always with great food and drinks available for purchase and wonderful people to meet.
Organic seed potatoes and onion sets in, plus gorgeous veggie and herb starts from Wildcat Mountain Farm and Edible Horizons.  Many hundreds of fruit trees and perennials in stock, nearby on our propagation land a few miles from the shop - we'll be bringing in as we fence in space for them and get an availability list going for them, too, if you'd like to order ahead.  So many seeds, tools, books and the warehouse is stocked with organic feed, fertilizer, amendments, soils, cover crops seeds and compost and growing each week...  Workshops by Naomi in April below and check out 'Clickn' Chicken' Clicker Training at the Avian Medical Center, April 28th! Goats are adorable backyard companions that can provide you with delicious milk, dreamy mohair fiber, and companionship.
