* Lighten Our Load * Wednesday 12 - 6pm, July 27th + Campfire on Sunday, July 31st

A couple semi trucks of our product left the property today to a new warehouse spot, thanks to Jay, a very kind vendor and our Hay & Straw container is heading out tomorrow. It has been a complex and long month of moving, light at the tunnel's end is near. We are almost done digging out and moving our big herd of shop plants from the garden. We just finished sorting the flower bulb crates and are halfway through a serious 'archeological' dig of the flower bulb mountain with a map we made in the fall when planting... We have a great stock of colorful bulbs now, grown with organic fertilizer, in soil aerated by many wigglin' worms for you to plant this fall. More organic flower seed, bulb, starts and cut flower dreams up our sleeves for you and the bees.......

SALE
= Last day open at our old site! A fun selection of goods is ready for you, including lots of dreamy plants and trees, come by before our last semi load heads out! * CASH or CHECK * We will accept cards again in the future both for pre-orders and market. Call or email in advance if you need something specific. And you can also just come visit with us, too, we miss you. (The sign our neighbors made when our Haaaay, Straw... sign came down, they say it as if calling seductively to Straw)

And we'll have more details soon on our plans to go mobile with drop sites + let us know if you are a site and are interested in hosting, wholesale and more farm deliveries and a being at a farmer's market or two to see you each week with Bumblefina and Octavius, bawc bawc, while we calmly continue the search for the right property to permanently put roots down (have you heard we are obsessed with plants and animals? Neil just called me a farmer of people last night when I was digging out flower bulbs in the dark by streetlight... and it is quite possible I am obsessed with you neat unique humans, too, in the best way and in all the neat connections we each make). In the meantime! our roots have lots of fun, invigorating ideas about being mobile, lovingly honing what we carry and why and doing more interactive education.

PRE-ORDERS! accepting big and small feed, fertilizer and cover crop orders, just email us - theshop@naomisorganic.com - and we will keep you stocked.

+ You're welcome to come to a campfire on Sunday night, our last night on the land, July 31st.

demolition day

tonight, 1/2 of her remains in a heap where you bought flowers. to be carted out with the concrete slab tomorrow morning. the other 1/2 and insulation were hauled away quickly this afternoon for scrap.

a huff and a puff

at 9:41am, i went back up on the overpass bridge, calling my mom to say hey! here's what the demolition sounds like since she is away during this.

the building immediately quivered. and in a way that was so slow and so fast. like an earthquake, a moment of solid mass in jello. flattened. and i completely lost it, cried uncontrollably on the phone with her cradled in the sounds of screeching, heaving metal.

they began at 7:30am. after two hours of biting, a pause, waiting for the electricity to be shut off and the shop space being torn out in pieces, i didn't realize it would heave over. and it felt like an animal ripped out of my chest.

when i was quiet, the lead contractor stopped from down below to kindly ask if I was okay and they said they could hear my sadness over the sounds of the demolition.

the demolition crew, cut this heart from the center of the building's center beam and they all signed it. i hugged them all and turned to show it to everyone. very touching and cried in happiness. they called me over when they were lifting the gnarled beams on to a flat bed. i deeply love good people. and this heart and your strong humanity will be in our future space and keep growing.

truly the sweetest demo guys we could ever have during this. we found a double sided piece of pink wood from our original bamboo chicken tractor years ago and cut out a heart of appreciation in return for their kindness in all respects and super neat metal beam heart. in the afternoon, they hooked us right back up with water for the plants.

very good public meeting at the S.M.I.L.E. Station about the future of this property last night. we came back and salvaged more materials in the dark with our truck headlights until after midnight. the list of what people salvaged is great and we all wished we'd had even one more day to save more. after speaking about our move out needs at last night's meeting we do now have until the 31st to dig out our trees and plants and continue packing and moving off the property.

she's down. such a good building. the crew said they had never taken down such a nice, solid structure. she treated us all so well and will always remembered as the shelter we first all started coming together in and around. RIP.

all the little bits of her we had that day to get will live on in new things: a Sherrett Square compost bin, a roof at Flying Onion Farm; lots of insulation, wood, doors and pegboard for our new mobile office wagon and future shop; glass doors for a greenhouse at Mosley Manor; exhaust fan, gas heater, metal studs, garage door and much more to Bill & Big John and metal, pegboard, wood and hardware to Chris & Brendan's farm in Damascus. we all wish there had been more time to salvage the metal roof and siding.

with much love and gratitude to this demolition crew, our neighbors, incredible volunteers and all of you near and far. you are the best. and we will come back together in a new space even happier and more colorful. it can only keep getting better from here!

Much love,
Naomi

MOVING + Open here Sat, Sun, Tues + You are the best!

Most wonderful customers and friends,

It's been a big day.

We are officially MOVING and Thursday we began intensely packing to be out of the building by an earlier date, July 7th, versus the 31st. We will have at least one to three weeks to stage

our goods and to dig up our plants and trees on the northwest section of the land across from the gate at SE 24th St & Tacoma.

We are aiming to be OPEN this Sat, Sun and Tues, July 5th to lighten our load a bit if you need goods and say goodbyes to you at this lovely spot.

We were told today that the building is being demolished on Friday, July 8th and there is no way to continue on the neighboring land or come back later.

We have been working very hard at finding a new permanent or intermediate site and navigating semi access, zoning and utilities with several properties in Portland and Milwaukie. We are trying to stay as close to our current site as we can, and have also reached our net further, open to ideas. We had hoped to only be closed for 4 days, but it will likely be a bit longer and we'll keep it updated here.

We do have a lot of ideas to keep supplying and seeing you in the meantime and know you are patient and incredibly supportive. You power us through this adventure and have us so inspired to find a great new site and possibly go mobile to serve you in the meantime... You are truly the best. The cats, goats, ducks and chickens and we will miss you during the transition time ahead, but we will be back and all happier than ever.

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities, just email or call if you're interested and we'll be focusing on digging out the plants and trees and other exterior things from July 8th to the 15th or later if we're still able to be on site through the 31st and then move out from the west gate.

Here is a sampling of help we need if you are available for any, just let us know:

Very Special Project

- Networking our computers back together at our new site / intermediary office nearby

Odd Projects

- Drive a load of household batteries to METRO in Oregon City for recycling

- Remove Christmas lights from building and metal structure

- Make signage: signs to announce, signs about having moved and a sheet for people to take with of website, phone, blog, etc. to find us

- Remove signage

- Moving and digging up / potting up plants and trees throughout the site (starting July 8th)

Bigger Projects

- Palletize and clear back side of building

- Hen & Duck relocation / new set up

- Disassembling barn / coop and pen

- Disassembling red window greenhouse (may be a later project, starting the 8th)

- Take down metal framing by plants / animal pen

- Take down interior and exterior pallet racking

- Take down banners at 99E and Tacoma – at very end of getting to be here, July 15th or 31st

- Carefully digging out, labeling and storing the flower bulb mountain

- Seed collection from Cover Crops and other plants

Things we need:

- Boxes, wide variety and bags could be good too.

- Pots, big odd containers to put trees and perennials we’ll be digging up in.

- Help thinking of things we're not yet thinking of... ; )

Thank you very, very much for all being so unique and kind!!
